Hampstead Renovations · Specialist Support

Planning & Conservation Support

Most of the houses we work on sit in conservation areas, behind Article 4 directions, next to listed neighbours, or all three. Hampstead Conservation Area, Belsize Conservation Area, Fitzjohns / Netherhall, Belgravia, Mayfair and large parts of Kensington and Chelsea each have their own design expectations — and refusal can hold a project up by a year.

How we work

We help homeowners navigate that landscape without surprises: pre-application strategy, planning drawings, design and access statements, heritage statements where required, and direct liaison with Camden, Westminster, Kensington & Chelsea, Hammersmith & Fulham and Brent planning officers.

Scope of work

Pre-application strategy

We assess what is realistically consentable on your address before drawings start — rear extension depth, mansard form, basement scope, fenestration changes.

Planning & LBC applications

Full planning, householder and listed building consent submissions including drawings, statements and supporting documentation.

Conservation & Article 4

Material specifications, fenestration restoration, render colour, roof form and shopfront detailing tuned to local conservation policy.

Appeals & revisions

Where a refusal is unreasonable we prepare the planning appeal; where a tweak unlocks consent we revise quickly rather than restart.

Planning proof for buildable renovation projects

Planning advice only helps if it produces a consentable scheme that can still be built well. Hampstead Renovations coordinates early planning strategy with architectural design, structural input, heritage sensitivity and delivery planning, so drawings, statements and specifications are not prepared in isolation from the build. That matters for period houses, conservation-area extensions, basement proposals, roof changes, glazing alterations and listed-building constraints where a small design decision can affect cost, programme, approval risk and site delivery. It keeps the approval route connected to practical construction decisions.

Our team can align architectural design, structural engineering, materials strategy, buildability review and contractor sequencing before an application is submitted. For examples of completed work across sensitive settings, review our case studies. To test whether your project needs a planning application, listed building consent, a lawful development route or pre-application advice, book a planning consultation before committing to detailed design.
